The "Dadbod" Rebuild Begins (archived from July 18th, 2018)

The Rebuilt “Dadbod”

July 18th, 2018

“Dadbod” perhaps the most demeaning, eye opening, and passive aggressive comment to come out in the last 5 years. “Must be working on the dadbod.” Some women may find the “dadbod” sexy and if you yourself are comfortable with having the whole “dadbod” thing going on then good for you. I however can’t handle the possession of the dadbod. Even if my wife did find it incredibly sexy and couldn’t keep her hands off of my entirely too soft and jiggly pectoral muscles or if giving my love handles an extra solid squishy squeeze is the thing that really took her over the top of Mt. O I can’t handle it. If I can’t stand the take my shirt off when I’m by myself in my own home no matter how hot and bothered the dadbod makes the wife I’m not going to want to try to take her on a trip up the mountain anyway. Let’s face it gentleman….. It’s never the chubby average joe at the bar that’s getting groped, squeezed, or eye banged to death by the gals in there. It’s not the chubby average dude that the women die over at the movies. If it was the chubby average joe that really turned them on then don’t you suppose they’d want to bang about 90% of the American male population??? Think about it.

DADBOD---- often attributed to men of child raising age 25-40ish probably because as a father with a fulltime job (often times overtime job), responsibility of pleasing your significant other, responsibilities of maintaining a home, as well as time commitment to be an awesome parent often times health, fitness, and optimal dietary choices take a back seat resulting in a physique that’s a bit chubbier and substantially more flabby than previous era’s of life.

I myself could be considered a dadbod type of guy I suppose. I certainly carry more bodyfat than I would like despite working out and trying to watch my eating however at times you simply get behind in life and you just have to catch up and progress from there. For those reasons I am going to embark on a journey to open up and show I’m going to counteract and REBUILD my “dadbod” all while going through the extreme craziness of the above dadbod description.

My Situation **I have a beautiful wife with a bun in the oven, an 18 month old son, and two dogs relying on me being there to be a positive influence on their life. ** I have a physically demanding job of logging invasive tree’s on government contract work that I’m typically working 60 hours a week. ** Physically my joints are pretty messed up. I’ve had 5 surgeries on my left knee and have no cartilage in the joint so it’s bone on bone contact resulting in chronic inflammation, pain, swelling, and lack of mobility. That very knee was the reason I was unable to walk without severe limping for over two years time resulting in me weighing over 300lbs previously in my life (but that’s another story.)

** I own a 3,000 square foot home on about ½ acre lot with a good amount of yard work and home maintenance required.

** My in-laws live 6 minutes from my house and my mother-in-law is an extremely successful corporate chef that prides herself on making EVERYONE fat and sassy. I see her at least once a week to share a meal.

My goal is to blog and share my day-to-day journey to rebuild my dadbod while overcoming the circumstances listed above to document and perhaps guide anyone interested in what exactly it takes as far as diet, training, time commitment, and financial liability. I want to show how it’s possible to find the time and get the results regardless of many situations we go through during these hectic times of our lives. The problem with most peoples fitness journey is simply that they say “I don’t have time to do that.” They completely discount everything by simply saying “I can’t” and everything falls to the wayside. Well….. I’m going to show you how! By documenting my meal plan, workouts, and body composition photos I hope I can give an example how easily you can REBUILD YOUR DADBOD in a 3 month window.
