Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming!
Today’s topic.... falling off your path momentarily.
Flabby daddy dad bod rebuild week 2 was a training success and dietary failure and just so everyone knows diet when training for fat loss is much more important to fat loss than training. The reason being YOU CANNOT OUT TRAIN A BAD DIET. The amount of training it takes to overwhelm a 3k calorie overage is ridiculous and let’s all face it... it’s way easier to eat extra calories than it is to burn them off.
I trained 6 days last week and dieted according to plan for 4.5 days or so. I had a couple days of reaching into boxes of trash food and drinking beer while doing house projects and hanging out with family. People often say that “life is about balance” which is true however YOU CANNOT HAVE BALANCE WHILE GOIMG AFTER EXTREME FAT LOSS GOALS. You’re either all in or you’re wasting your time. So when you have a slip up get the ship righted immediately. Find your discipline and think of your goals.
So what happens when you have a slip up?
For those of us that have been there you know that when you get sidetracked off of your path often times it leads to days off the path. You think “screw it, I already screwed up might as well just enjoy myself and start fresh tomorrow.” I’m here to encourage you to take a different approach. Eating one cookie off plan is not nearly as damaging as eating one cookie and then deciding to eat the entire box of cookies..... followed by a pizza.... followed by an 18 pack of budweisers.... followed by chips, ice cream, and everything else that you decide to reach for. When you temporarily stray off the path the best thing you can do is let it roll off your back and begin building forward ASAP. Don’t dwell on your failures but learn from it. Just keep swimming!
Keep moving forward and be more disciplined moving forward. Start putting together a new streak of good days. Most importantly GET BACK ON THE PATH IMMEDIATELY. When you spill a glass of water on your lap you don’t say “screw it I’m already wet” and pour the entire pitcher on your lap. Don’t just say "the hell with it." Adapt and overcome! Don’t allow your temporary and momentary failures or struggles lead to your complete and utter downfall! Dust yourself off and start moving the chains forward again. Get better as you go on. Keep going towards your destination. Don’t let one slip up derail you completely. Use these failures as an opportunity to be better. Just keep swimming!
